Tom A. (CTA4him) from ANDERSON, SC Reviewed on 3/6/2015... Some Santana fans were disappointed when Carlos started flirting with Jazz, but this cd was an under the radar reaction by the critics and all these years later it finally starts rising towards the top of the many jazz tinged releases Santana made. It doesn't sound dated and stands right along with their best stuff.

Supernatural G. Garcia | Pacific Northwest | 10/27/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "I first heard this "album" in 1976. My older brother had the LP and played it all the time. What struck me then was how the rhythms were structured, and how much soul was in the vocals and guital playing. The music just made me want to pick up an instrument and play it. As my musical tastes matured and I learned more about music, this album became an inspiration. It is, simlpy put, brilliant. Tears well up in my eyes when I hear "Promise of a Fisherman", it's such a spiritually powerful song. In my opinion, the guitar playing on that song is some of the best, most soulful, most powerful ever played and recorded, by anyone. On that track, it's as if Carlos Santana's soul was ignited and inspired so, that it touched the outer reaches of the universe itself. That's what I see in my minds eye when I hear this. Magic. A great collection of songs."
