"Santana's first three studio albums remain their best, and THIS is the best way to get them. All three albums were reissued and remastered from the original master tapes in 1998. Those reissues also came with live bonus tracks, a huge plus with this band.
What "Santana: The Collection" does is include all three of those CD's in a red slipcase (what you see on this Amazon page - it's the only picture they give you of the product). These are the same exact CD's you would've gotten if you bought them separate - same discs, same jewel cases, same tray cards, same booklets - except now you have a slipcase to go with them. Quick and economical, this item's often on sale. I basically got each album for $6 apiece.
What you should avoid is the longbox version. There's another "Santana: The Collection" listen on Amazon. The longbox looks similar to the red slipcase here, except it's a longbox (it'll be obvious when you see Amazon's picture for it). One major problem: no jewel cases or the original packaging, it's just three discs with respective cards. If you keep all your CD's in a binder with sleeves, you may not care, but if you have a shelf full of CD's in jewel cases, you may want consistency."
Where it all started.

"The Santana fan will easily find a plethora of albums available to choose from. This set, however, is essential for for the Santana fan's music library.
This set contains the digitally remastered first three Santana albums, including what many believe, including myself, Santana's best early album, ABRAXAS.
The accompanying literature also gives a brief insite into the history of the group, explaining their debut at the Fillmore West in 1968, their successful merging of rock & roll, R & B, jazz and latino rhythms, and how the band shaped up and impact each member had on its early sounds.
The group that made ground breaking music that had no name produced two platinum albums and three hit singles in its first three years and you can have it all in one complete set.
