"I agree with some of your review (mostly that it's a very interesting CD), but I don't necessarily agree with your comment about the pronunciation. As far as I know (I've spent a significant amount of time in Ladino-speaking areas in the Mediterranean and Balkans), there are some distinct regional differences in Ladino pronunciation. From what I can tell about Aroeste's background, she grew up with Ladino spoken around her and so her diction is likely the norm that she's familiar with. I really don't find her diction problematic at all and I think she should get credit for keeping the tradition alive and presenting it in new ways for those of us who didn't grow up with it at all."
