CD Reviews

Sarah Brightman'S paradise
Little star | Graz in Österreich | 02/22/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Sarah Brightman is my favourite singer. The way she lets pop and classical music flow together is unique and superb. I recommend this CD to every music lover out there.
IN PARADISUM: This is part of a requiem obviously. It sounds a little bit like Enya.
EDEN: This is a cover I think. It's well done. I heard the Originalversion in the movie "I still know what you did last summer".
SO MANY THINGS: She helped writing the lyrics in this track. It's about the feelings you have after a relationship wich went wrong.
ANYTIME ANYWHERE: I love the way this piece gets more and more passionate especially in the end it sounds like an aria.
BAILERO: A beautiful ballad for dreaming and relaxing.
DUST IN THE WIND: A Kansas-Cover. Nice melody great sound, great lyrics. A favourite.
IL MIO CUORE VA: Oh...that's "my heart will go on" by Celine Dion in italian. It sounds like an aria. You have to get used to it. But it's a lot better than the german version by Vicky Leandros.DELIVER ME: A beautiful lovesong. Again a favourite.
UN JOUR IL VIENDRA: This is a wintersong. very nice for staying at home when it's cold outside.
NELLA FANTASIA: Again a wintersong.
TU: Very athmospheric. Her voce sounds great as always.
LASCIA QU'IO PIANGA: Aria from the opera "Rinaldo" by G. F. Händel. That's classical music at its best.
ONLY AN OCEAN AWAY: That's another crossover piece. I like it.
SCENE D'AMOUR: Without lyrics but very romantic and beautiful.
NESSUN DORMA: This is the short version. It's shorter than on the "Classics"-album. Again an aria. I heard it's originally written for tenor-voice.
Bonus CD:
It's the "Time to say goodbye"-Single.
TIME TO SAY GOODBYE: Her greatest hit the duet with Andrea Bocelli. I like his voice although normally I don't like men who sing opera.
SLEEP TIGHT: Another great crossover-piece. She sings low exept for the high note in the end.
YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY: This is taken from the "FLy"-album. It's very long and it sounds fareastern.
TIME TO SAY GOODBYE: (Sarah's intimate version): It's just Sarah singing on this one. I prefer it because as I said I don't like men who sing opera.
DESERT ROSE: This song is only avaiable on the TTSG-single and on this edition. It's very soft. Not the same song Sting sings."
Mind changed about TTSG single and more
Someone who'd rather much see Andre | New York, NY USA | 12/25/2000

"Once upon a time, back in October 2000, I changed my mind about the TTSG single, particularly after getting used to it (which was just like two weeks after I got it). It's no surprise that it had to be repackaged with Eden for this special Millennium Edition, which I don't have. The only difference is, on this Millennium Edition, the song "Desert Rose" was entered as the last track. Would make a great collector's item. As a Sarah fan, I have eight of her albums and several rare singles of hers, including A Question of Honour, Just Show Me How To Love You, the TTSG single, and I'm still trying for How Can Heaven Love Me. Anyway, I'm listening to the TTSG single right now as I type. And what an amazing surprise it is. The tracklist goes:1. The title duet. Everyone knows the song already. Probably the best performance Sarah has ever given and probably ever will give since her more well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber interpretations. And Bocelli, my favorite singer, sings directly in your face, as if he put the words right in your mouth and made you cry.2. Sleep Tight. Previously unreleased. Damn good rarity, even though On The Nile, which can be most likely found on Napster, is the best out of all the rare Sarah songs I've heard. It's not forgettable in my book.3. You Take My Breath Away. I have more affection for this song just because it made its way onto this single. 4. Time To Say Goodbye (Sarah's Intimate Version). Same as the actual duet except Sarah sings the whole song by herself.Fat chance even though I kind of like Andrea's CTP somewhat better. No wonder this single spent so long at #1 over in Germany and became so damn successful. Probably one of the best singles ever to go out on the market. It's worth it. You might be wondering "Where the hell can you get JSMHTLY, QOH, or HCHLM?" Or this single. All except this single are rare. In this case, e-mail me at honour2001@netzero.net and I'll see what I can do. Until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"
Nice single

"Like I said, the single is nice, but I also have pretty much the same thing in my 2 cd set called Time to Say Goodbye/Eden.The songs are nice, and the single introduces a very pretty song called "Sleep tight". The lyrics in this song are haunting, and represent a Sarah from another world. Same with "You take my breath away". These two songs give TTSGB single the flavour it needs. I'm not saying that TTSGB is a bad song. It's not, but what I mean is that the single needed a boost by putting some lesser known tracks in.The cover is unusual, and it probably would have looked nicer as a full cover shot. It's funny, this is the only time that I ever saw this single listed on amazon.com. I am glad to review it.Back to the title song. The cd version and the solo (intimate version) are both nice. I like the ending of the solo version slightly better because of the sudden ending. There is no boom from the accoustic bass at the end though, compared to the original. For Sarah to take on both verses of the song was a nice change, for the song takes on a whole different air.The cd is worth it, because at least there are songs which are a lot newer, yet less known, as well as one song that was never heard before..."
