Album DescriptionThe new Satin Doll Trio album is a celebration of romantic music, some well known, and some not so well known. It is also a dedication to the artists who recorded this wonderful music during the 1950's. They include; Blossom Dearie, June Christy, Carmen McCray, Chris Conner, Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, Julie London, and Nat King Cole. The Satin Doll Trio?s sound is reminiscent of other great guitar-bass-voice trios from the period as heard on recordings by artists such as; Julie London on ?Julie is Her Name?, Sarah Vaughan on ?After Hours?, and Ella Fitzgerald on ?Take Love Easy?. Singing when accompanied by only two instruments requires a vocalist with special skills. One who can project deep feeling and exercise tasteful restraint. It requires the art of nuance. Satin Doll Trio vocalist Patrice Ferris boasts a silky voice and sings in a sultry style that mirrors these great singers while adding her own unique impression to each song.
