"This POWER AND THE GLORY is Saxon's fifth studio album, coming after SAXON, STRONG ARM OF THE LAW, WHEELS OF STEEL and DENIM AND LEATHER. It's better produced than the others, but without losing any of their aggressivity and creative inspiration to write perfect British heavy metal songs. In this one here, drummer Nigel Glockler replaced Pete Gill, who went away to play for MOTORHEAD. (wise decision, guy...). SAXON never again sounded so inspired or energetic like in this album. After this one, SAXOn slowly succumbed to pressure and tried hard to change their music to "Break America"... The result were a bunch of disspointing albuns, dressing themselves like American hair-metal bands and losing credibility to their old base of fans, without necessarily gaining new ones. ONly in the late nineties SAXOn returned with decent albuns like UNLEASH THE BEAST and METAL HEAD. They are not even remotely comparable to thei heyday, but are much better than the middle-eighties ... they released."
One of their best

"This is a must-have in the metal community! The remaster sounds great & the tunes are awesome! I would also like to say that the person who made the comment about "Suzy Hold On" was right on the money! I too miss that track because that version is far superior to the earlier one. I think the reason for this is that it was only on the American album. "Midas Touch" was on it in the rest of the world (correct me please if I'm wrong). I am only glad to have a remaster of this at all. Looking for the new Crusader remaster out any day on Axekiller also! The Wolf"

"i have been listening to saxon since 1982,and even though i have many different bands that i like, saxon enters my soul like no others.they play there music with passion that makes me feel like im there. i would have liked to have seen better consistency in there recordings as far as sound goes, but i will take what i can get. power, strong arm, wheels, denim and last but not least crusader are probably the best of the saxon collection. love the band, and i like to just let them rock!"
