CD ReviewsGood, but not what I expected Francisco D. Luna | Kingston, Ok USA | 03/20/2010 (3 out of 5 stars) "I guess there comes a time when a favorite band releases something thats not quite to our liking, this is a good example. The band seems like they tried a little too hard to sound refined, and in the process lacked some dramaticism that I really loved about their music. The drums almost sound fake, almost like a drum machine..too robotic..no contrasts...not even any reverb that I enjoyed so much. My favs are tracks 2,6,8,and 9. Tracks 8 and 9 remind me a lot of Mogwai. Track 8 is the happiest track on the album, and 2 sounds closer to previous albums. Change is good, but not when you lose the best qualities." It's OK, just not the greatest I've heard from this Great Ba D. Anderson | Colorado Springs, CO, USA | 12/23/2009 (3 out of 5 stars) "I don't think this album was produced very well. The drums and percussion tracks sound as if they were recorded in someone's bedroom with a couple cheap mics, not a studio. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this band, I've been following them for years and was very excited about this new release. But I found the core of the music on this album to be kind-of uninspired, meandering, and not recorded very well. For me, there aren't any pivotal melodic surprises that leave you floored as with their previous albums, all of which are EXCELLENT. If youre a SS fan, you'll want to pick this up. If you're not a SS fan, still pick this up of course, but also get their "exquisite" previous albums."
