One of my first jazz releases

"Stumbled upon this at the library about 7 or 8 years ago after realizing I was completely jazz-ignorant. What a great introduction! Loopy and sympathetic performances capture the Monk-ish attitude to a T. Still pretty ignorant, but this remains one of my all-time favorite works of music in any genre."
Ultimate rebuttal to audiophiles

"Recorded by Jimmy Giuffre with a table-top one-track recorder in a nightclub, this mono treasure with more than a couple of audio drop-outs is one of the ten CD's I'd take to a deserted island.
Magnificent interpretation of Monk by his best students (thus, 'School Days'), all the performances are top-notch world class, funny, playful and alive. Any inspiring drummer hearing Dennis Charles here will either give up or know that there are new heights he had never realized existed.
Monk told Lacy, "Record everything," and we have this treasure!
P.S. Look for the later 90's HatHut re-release, it's probably a great deal cheaper than this 'original' re-release."
