"Although i do not understand each word it sings, i m just happy to hear it till the last song finishes. I feel content."
The Schwarzkopf-Fischer pairing is incomparable

"Although everything here represents Schwarzkopf in best form, it's her partnership with Edwin Fischer, in close, dry mono sound, that hasn't been out of the catalog for fifty years. The reason is that no more inspired Schubert recital has ever been recorded. Fischer offers seemingly simple, sometimes rather slow accompaniments into which he poured a lifetime of musical mastery, and Schwarzkopf rises to that same level with singing that is at once pure, sensitive, very detailed in phrasing, and utterly committed to bringing out the poetry. All in all, combinaiton that has never been surpassed, even by them.
EMI now has three versions of this recital in print, and all sound basically alike to me. This Great Recordings of the Century version offers good value if you want to hear Schwarzkopf singing more Schubert. Another version offers Fischer's classic reading of Schubert's 'Moments musicaux' if you prefer more of him. There's yet another version filled out with Schwarzkopf and Walter Gieseking in a selection of Mozart songs -- not that composer's most inspired vocal writing but done with inimitable style."

"In my opinion this is the most solid disc of Lieder I have heard. The music and the performance are great. I would definitely go for this if your new to Lieder and want to get your feet wet. And maybe next you'll want to try Brahms' Deutche Volkslieder, which I think takes a little more effort to get into, but is great none the less."

"An excellent selection of Lieder from Shubert, a great singer with a marvelous voice, and a good technical level given the period where the recordings were made."
