"Javier Perianes gives us a beautifully nuanced yet very serious, deeply felt interpretation of the Op.90 Impromptus. From the first notes of the C minor, one is aware that this will be an introspective, respectful treatment of these pieces, perhaps a little slower than one hears elsewhere, but coherent, well structured, playing that suits the music well. The fleetness of the E flat major is never compromised by the clear articulation. One never forgets these are pieces infused with nascent romanticism but with firm classical roots. The pianist is clearly at one with the music. This is a recording that well deserves a place next to those of Richter(dispersed over various recitals), Radu Lupu, Perahia, and Zimerman. One eagerly hopes for a future recording of Op.142.
The Drei Klavierstucke seem to flow from the Impromptus and are equally as beautiful and eloquent. Indeed this is a well thought out recital which should give much enjoyment."
