""This is the third recording of the complete Impromptus on an instrument that approximates the sound of Schubert's time. Lubimov is ahead of the competition chiefly because his high sensibility shapes the music more poetically than other members of the cult of historic performance practice.



"In general, his interpretations are flexible, expressive and large in scale. To achieve this he often pushes the instrument to its limit, creating an extraordinary amount of tension. However, his Romantic approach is seldom out of place, as more often than not he balances the drama with playing of unusual serenity, exploiting the instrument's possibilities for exotic and delicate color."
