"This disc contains a lot of wonderful singing from the great Lieder interpreters. Souzay is one of my favorite baritone voices of all time, but it was Fassbaender's name that really made me buy this set. Her "Koenig in Thule" is stunning! You'll find many jewels in her and Elly Ameling's singing. Ameling's captivating rendition of the marvellous "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen" is another highlight of this valuable disc. I haven't heard Souzay's "Winterreise" yet, although I know his earlier recording of this cycle which is one of my favorites. Before buying this set make sure that you do not have its contents on separate releases - the material in this compilation has been previously released. It is, however, a good set for anybody who wants to get acquainted with these three exquisite singers."
