A desert island set

"These marvellous interpretations should be in the CD collection of every lover of beautiful music. Schumann's orchestration has always been described as "dull" and "monochrome". But listen how these works come alive in the hands of a great conductor and a great orchestra! Every time I listen I discover wonderful new subtleties. There is no reason why this music can't be more popular. And with such dedicated advocacy it must be impossible. This is pure treasure. I cannot recommend these recording strong enough."
Excellent Recordings!

"This Schumann set by Karajan is top shelf recommendation. His interpretations stand far from many others. He brings weight, fire, beauty, mystery, grandeur, lyricism and poetry.
What's most impressive is the sense of unity, energy, structure and flow! The Beliners shine all the way through and the sound quality on the recordings are amazing! Everything is loud, clear and plush...all sorts of details come out spontaneously.
My favorite set of the Schumann Symphonies."
