It's one of the best electronic dance music albums of 2009, but it's also without a doubt one of of the best albums of the year in any genre. Or more? That being said I would say this album does deliver musically. It was a little different than what I expected but that can be a good thing. Most songs on here are instant classics, but there were a few that were just OK for me. It was definitely worth the purchase but I hope I don't have to wait another five years to hear more music from this artist.
This artist, with the help of some others such as Gavin Hardkiss, aka Hawke, truly are pioneers of a unique sound in electronic music and are talented enough to go in about any direction they want and it will be good. Like I said, worth the purchase but different from what I expected to hear, probably because of the length of time between albums. Maybe the long anticipation isn't always a good thing because the expectations for the music grow as the wait gets longer. Not my favorite release from this artist (guess I'm more old school Hardkiss fan) but I would still recommend it and it's a good soundtrack to finish the summer with." |
