Product DescriptionScott Reis was born in Portland,OR and has lived there most of his life. Scott studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria from 1994-95, where he took liberal arts courses and honed his German speaking skills. He fell in love with "The Sound of Music" town, which is nestled in between the Alps and claims the right to Mozart's birthplace. He relished the opportunity to travel all around Europe, and many of his fondest memories have musical connections. In London, he saw his first Broadway musicals, "Les Miserables" and "Miss Saigon". In Munich, he was front row for a Counting Crows concert. He met one of his all-time favorite singer/songwriters, Michael Stipe (of REM), while he was at a dance club with his friends in Rome, Italy. Some of his favorite artists and musical influences are: Five for Fighting, Howie Day, Ryan Adams, Pete Droge, REM, Ben Folds, Counting Crows, Indigo Girls, Sarah McLachlan, and Natalie Merchant. He taught himself how to play and begin writing his own songs. He remembers strumming and singing alone in his dorm room, but never in front of people. It wasn't until he went to Notre Dame and one of his best friends encouraged him to sing in his tenor voice. Scott began performing acoustic sets in coffeehouses around Portland in 2003. With the help of producer and engineer, Tim Briare, and the musical talents of his wife, Maureen Briare, Scott finished his debut CD, Carpe Diem, in January 2005. Songs: 1. Carpe Diem 2.
