Synopsis

Album Description
2010 collection of tracks previously only available on vinyl. With their long-awaited album Book of Souls due to hit the shelves this fall, Secret Chiefs 3 have chosen this moment to bring the digital world up to date on some of the clandestine (i.e. vinyl-only) activities of the SC3 satellite bands. In 2007, a string of seven-inch records by these groups were all snatched up by fans within just over a month, leaving many potential listeners feeling a bit left out. Web of Mimicry is pleased to announce that eight tracks from UR, Ishraqiyun and Electromagnetic Azoth have made it on to Satellite Supersonic Vol. 1, and five of them are from those coveted seven-inch records!

CD Reviews

For SC3 Fans - not recommended as an introductory album

"We'll another mistake by SC3. They are touring their butts off, gaining a lot of fans, but releasing stuff that will only appeal to "long term" fans. This CD, and the previous release, Traditionalists, do not represent what they have been playing live.

A typcial process of getting a fan:

Noob sees live show-->Wow that was great!!!-->Online browsing for new music, I loved the SC3 show, I'll get one of their CD's-->boy, they sure have alot of CD's to choose from, I guess I'll get the latest (since I just saw them and it blew my mind)-->Receive Satellite Supersonic or Traditionalists-->Impression on first listen: CD doesn't have what made live show so magical maybe I was drunk at the show-->CD is shelved and not distributed to friends--> Less "word of mouth" growth of band that deserves a lot of recognition

SC3 You have new songs! RELEASE THEM for goodness sake and stop throwing away all your hard work you are putting into touring and not having new fans "stick". Also, giving fans the soundtrack of a Italian film and a collection of all the 7" material is cool, but we want the NEW STUFF TOO!

PUT OUT A LIVE CD TOO!!!

So, if you are new to SC3, go with one of their full length LP's

If you like the crazy, circus-y, more "bungle" sounding material, start with First or Second Constitution of bylaws. Keep in mind that the first one goes into "noise" after about the 6th song (the first 6 are absolutely ridiculously good). But there is more! Keep listening and you find gems throughout the "goof-off" noise

Book-M - you just can't go wrong. Amazingly good and it contains a couple of songs from their tour (i.e Dolorous Stroke, Vajra)

Book of Horizons - Probably has the closest sound as to what they are playing live (it is cleaner though and not as in your face). It has alot of "eastern" influence and some really large sounding (movie score-ish) tunes. It is phenomenal.

Once you are hooked on SC3, come back to this:)"
