"I love Seether, including their original work from South Africa before they moved to America. This band, originally from South Africa under the name Saron Gas is incredible. They formed in 1999 and this is their second album, the first was called Fragile and sadly is not available in the United States. (South African release)Yes, Shaun Morgan's voice can have a tendency to sound like Kurt Cobaine, and/or Aaron Lewis but I found it easy to distinguish between Shaun and others. And btw, this band doesn't sound like Creed as many people think. I would recommend this cd to anyone who enjoys good rock music. The cd is so varied it suits nearly everyone's tastes. Where I left a way to find more info on Seether's South African album.The entire album of Disclaimer is broken into many different types of music:
Pride, Needles, FXXK IT, and Your Bore are all full of rage69 Tea, Pig, and Gasoline all have grunge elementsFine Again and Driven Under stand alone, it is not because they were released on the radio, it is merely coincidence.Sympathetic, Fade Away, and Broken are very calm beats, so calm that it would surprise most people to know that the same band sings both Pride and Sympathetic.The first song, Gasoline has a grunge element to it, it is a great song.69 Tea has a similar riff to Gasoline but it's easy to tell the songs apart when listening to the lyrics. Fine Again, the song I heard on the radio which made me fall in love with Seether is a great song, although it can be seen as depressing music when listening to the lyrics.Needles starts off with great drums, it is a very hard rock song that I do indeed love but it's a hard song to explain.Driven Under is by far my favorite song on the entire CD, I fell in love with this song before it ever debuted on the radio. "Do you know I'm faking when I'm lying next to you?" The song has wonderful instruments in the background and at the start of the song it sounds like what can be described only as harp music. Eventually the song turns into a rock song with the chorus "Then she told me she had a gun"Pride is a song that is full of pain and rage and really doesn't fit after the harmonious ending of Driven Under, however it is still an excellent song to listen to, especially when you're in an angry mood.Sympathetic is a very light song, with an upbeat tempo. It is a nice recovery after the brutality of Pride. It is similar to the 9th song on the track, Fade Away, in it's tempo. Yet both songs can be distinguished from one another.Your Bore is a good song, again filled with anger and pain. The way the tracks on the album are arranged gives you the sensation of a musical roller coaster ride, from sadness, to anger, to acceptance.Fade Away is one of the truly "happy", songs on the album, however just because most of the songs on Disclaimer seem to be negative this doesn't mean that they're by any means of poor quality.Pig is a song similar to Gasoline and 69 Tea with it's element of grunge embedded within it. All 3 songs however are very different when you listen to the rhythm and lyrics.FXXk It is a song similar to Pride in the tempo and rage of the song. This song seems to be the result of a messed up relationship. This is my least favorite song on the album, but that's not saying much since I love every song on the album.Broken, is the final song on Disclaimer. This soft and slow melody is practically a whisper compared to the previous FXXk It.It sounds as though Shaun is heart broken over a love that he has lost touch with. "I don't feel light when you're gone away." It's a very mellow song that you could probably play in front of your parents and they'd ask you to burn it for them. (Mine did, lol)I was happy that I bought this CD. It is not a cd that I buy, listen to once, then never listen to again, it is one of the few CDs that I can listen to repetitively and enjoy. I was so pleased with their music I did some research and found more songs they have released before and after Disclaimer.Look online for these songs also by Seether/Saron Gas

Great debut album

"This debut album from Seether is great. Seether's sound can best be descirbed as Nirvana gone hard rock. The lead's singers voice on many tracks greatly resembles Kurt Cobain's. But don't get me wrong, in general the music is quite a bit harder than Nirvana. They nicely blend the hard songs with the more mellow one's. Personally I think the best tracks on the album are Fine Again, Driven Under, Sympathetic, Broken, Fade Away and 69 Tea. This is a very dark album, but infectiously catchy. If you like Chevelle, Taproot, Staind, or even Alice in Chains I would recommend this album to you.



Here's a track breakdown:



1. Gasoline - very grungy song, extremely catchy chorus, nice heavy guitar riffs 8.5/10



2. 69 Tea - another grunge song that breaks into heavy guitar and drums during the chorus, also a catchy song, interesting lyrics 9/10



3. Fine Again - their first single, surely you've heard it on the radio, my favorite song on the cd, very dark song about alcoholism, catchiest chorus on the whole cd 10/10



4. Needles - Another very dark song, the tempo is medium paced, again breaking into heavy guitar riffs during the chorus with more of a mellow bridge 7.5/10



5. Driven Under - one of the slower songs on the cd. Very emotional lyrics, yet again with an exploding chorus. 7.5/10



6. Pride - one of the hardest songs on the cd. Has a faster pace than most of the other songs, almost growling like verses, than slows down for the chorus. This song doesn't follow the same model as the others. Awsome ending! 9/10



7. Sympathetic - Slowest song on the cd by far, the tune reminds me of Lifehouse, but before you get turned off give it a listen, they really pull it off! Super catchy chorus. This song is placed perfectly on the cd. Also unlike any other song on the cd. 10/10



8. Your Bore - Sounds similar to song # 4, listen to the drum beat they have going, it's great. Hard chorus. 8.5/10



9. Fade Away - Second slowest song on the Album. But it has a great sound to it, probably has the least voice fluctuation in it. Very mellow, but about 1/2 way through the guitar picks up and it sounds awsome. 9/10



10. Pig - Dark chorus, with almost a growling voice. Follows the pattern of most of the songs, but the way this song is put together is brilliant. They have the hard rock sound going strong on this track. 9/10



11. Fxxk It - This song earned this cd the explicit lyrics alone. Very dark. It goes from a mellow verse into a very hard chorus, harder than anything else on the cd. Also, very catchy. Growling vocals going on. 8/10



12. Broken - They end the cd with a lighter song, but it seems to sum up the album nicely. Mellow song, never really breaks into heasvy guitar riffs, but his voice sounds great on this song. Good way to end the cd. 8.5/10"

Best mainstream rock CD I've heard in years

"Latley when it comes to rock on the radio, it's been the same dull [stuff], over and over again. It all sounds the same and it's just plain bad. However, when I heard "Fine Again", I thought this really seemed like a band that's not following any trends and they have their own type of style. Sure, a lotta people are saying that the lead singer of Seether sounds like Aaron Lewis amongst others, but in all honesty I think he has quite a different style. Well, I decided to cop the CD but wasn't expecting any of the songs to match up to "Fine Again" being that it's probably one of my favorite mainstream rock songs I've heard in years, but to my surprise I couldn't find a single mediocre song on the album. On top of this, there's so many different types of songs on "Disclaimer". Some of the tracks sound like early 90's grunge, while others sound more like present day hard rock. The instrumentals on this album are awesome and though some may find the lyrics a little too trendy or repetitive, I feel that they wrote some heart-felt words on all these tracks that so many people can relate to. You can tell this isn't some pre-packaged angst that you'd hear from some excuse for a rock band like Puddle of Mudd, these are real emotions. As for the lead singer, I feel a lot of people just pre-judged the vocals after hearing "Fine Again", but if you listen to the whole album he switches up his style quite a lot. Whether or not you think they sound too much like Stain'd or Creed or some one else, the bottom line is that I haven't heard any of those bands come out with an album that is this good."
