CD Reviews

The CD that Introduced Me to the Ministry of Sound
J. Taylor | Washington, DC, USA | 02/07/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I listened to this CD in a Tower Record Store 4 years ago and was absolutely amazed. Not only did it introduce me to the Ministry of Sound, but to the entire house and electronic music genre. It was like I had finally found my musical home after years of search for music that had the ability to move me. Tony Humphreys is definitely a living legend and this CD demonstrates that. This CD was made in the days when Ministry of Sound compilations were only 1 CD long. However, this doesn't take away from the CD's quality at all. Tracks that really stand out are: "London Trans Xpress" by Xpress II, "The Question" by 7th Street Housing Authority, "Ride on the Rhythm", a track by "Black Sky" by Shakespeare's Sister" and then "Testament One". This is definitely a CD to pick up if you want some introductory to house music. And it gives you a good idea where house music was in the early nineties. This CD was made in '93 and house music has definitely changed a lot since them."

"This is the first of the Ministry series and although not the best it is certainly near the top. This CD epitomises the early 90's club sound with funky house and disco mixed to perfection by Tony Humphries. The stand out tracks are "All Funked up","The Question","Ride on the Rhythm" and "Testament One"."
