Catchy hooks and hard rocking sound goes the distance!

"Shades Apart has evolved from a hard-edged punk band to a very capable rock and roll band. The tunes found all throughout "Eyewitness" are all very competent, cohesive, well written, well-thought out pieces of work, and they rock as well. (A hard feat to come by) Songs like "Stranger by the Day", "Sputnik"(Watching Over You), "Valentine", "Know It All" "Speed of Light", and "Chasing Daydreams" are all very radio-ready tunes, and tunes that should be all over the radio right now. Shades Apart is the first really promising "new" band on the rock music scene in 1999 thus far. Their potent combination of strong lyrics, great hooks and musicianship similar to Fuel (minus the monotonous "tortured soul" cries) and catchy melodies is the formula for great songwriting and a band who deserves their time at the top. If you're looking for a great summmer record, a great rock record, or just a taste of something new, Shades Apart is your band and "Eyewitness" is your album."
This is the best album I've heard in a long time!

"I've been a Shades Apart fan since their first album in 1987, and I have to say: THIS IS THE BEST. This album rocks, regardless of what kind of music you're into. Shades Apart have experimented a lot with their sound over the years, each album becoming more melodic, expressive and complex. But they found the magic formula with Eyewitness: They have managed to create a sound that's punchy and rough-edged enough to satisfy their "old school" punk rock fans, but with plenty of style, catchy melodies and complicated rythyms to please the rest. These guys are incredible musicians and songwriters--but you have to see them live to fully appreciate their talent. If you like energetic, singable tunes backed by rocking guitar and incredible drums (think Stewart Copeland with two extra hands), go see Shades Apart. But no comparisons can adequately describe their sound--they're one of a kind! Valentine, Stranger by the Day and 100 Days are especially memorable, but Chasing Daydreams, Starry Night and Time Machine really resonate. Once you listen to Eyewitness, you won't be able to take it out of your CD player."
Excellent Pop-music backed up with years of wisdom

"After hearing that they got signed to Universal, I assumed their sound would change, but I was suprised it was for the better. This is a must have. Get their older Revelation stuff if you are into the metal/punk thing."
