"Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels left the group in late 1983, leaving Howard Hewitt to promote the rest of their last album for "The Look." Recruting Andre Cymone/Prince look-alike, Micki Free and the gorgeous Delissa Davis brought in a new Shalamar and their 1984 breakthrough album, Heartbreak was the end of the beginning (or the last real Shalamar album). The album spawned 4 great singles both good for pop and R&B radio.



Dancing In The Sheets (from Footloose soundtrack)was their most successful single besides the classic, Second Time Around. That and the angry rock beat album opener, Amnesia were some of the great tracks and Micki's guitar solos on both were on point. Don't Get Stopped In Beverly Hills was ok, if you like a good soundtrack. The best track on this album is My Girl Loves Me, with its ground breaking beat, perfect saxophone solo, and organ and guitar arrangments by Delissa and Micki as well as fabulous producing by Hawk (he did Stephanie Mill's The Medicine Song and Jeffrey Osborne's Plane Love) That emotional funk number proved that Shalamar did not loose their R&B side. I love all the non-single tracks especially the wonderful Howard/Delissa duet, Whenever You Need Me and the funky title track (produced by Klymaxx's Fenderella)



I ordered this off of eBay and enjoyed every minute of it! Every Shalamar fan must cop this before the quantities are limited and prices go up!"

"The Music on this set hasn't aged well.only Howard Heweitt Remains from the Original Shalamar.Don't Get Stopped in Beverly Hills was from the Movie Beverly Hills Cop.The Song Like alot of Songs at the time was a Take off from Michael Jackson's Beat it.The Programed Drum beat&Guitar Solo in the middle.that's the Overall problem with this Album Too Much Formula from a Group that always had their own Idenity.Only Heweitt's Vocals save it."
