"Jack Hylton was VERY popular in England in the 1920s and 1930s. His band was capable of playing the best dance music of the day, often covering American hits. The man recorded a huge amount of material, but ASV managed to give us a really nice selection spanning both decades of his work. Restoration of authentic mono recordings is excellent, and several songs are standouts. Happy Feet is an almost exact remake of Paul Whiteman's arrangement. Darktown Strutters Ball and My Melancholy Baby are standouts because of Coleman Hawkins guest shot on the Tenor Sax. If you want to hear a really fine British dance band from this era, this disc does not disappoint. Grab this while you can."
