CD Reviews

80's dance queens welcome comeback

""Give Me Tonight 2000" is one of the hottest remixes of the moment. Hex Hector takes this freestyle track from 1984 and kicks it into 2000 with some hard beats and fantastic breaks. Shannon's vocals are fantastic as are Jimi Tunnell's as the "boyfriend" in the song. You get 5 different versions of the song, not one as is listed on Amazon. You get these versions:1) Hex Hector 2000 AD Radio Edit - 3:432) Hex Hector 2000 AD Club Mix - 10:333) Hex Hector 2000 AD Dub Mix - 8:084) Hex Hector 2000 AD Accapella - 3:205) Classic Mix - 3:53The best track on this disc is the Club Mix, 10 minutes of pure heaven. The dub has the same great beats and build ups, but alot less vocals, which is kind of a downfall. And the radio edit is good as well, but is too short to give this song the build-up that it deserves. If you are a fan of dance divas with "tragic songs" ("Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" by Deborah Cox, "Un-Break My Heart" by Toni Braxton or "The One I Gave My Heart To" by Aaliyah) you need to pick this one up quickly."
A MUST GET !

"A must get. This remix belongs in your collection. Have you ever gone to a club and at one moment in time, the music feels so right and that the energy of the song is rippling through your body. This is the song that will give you that feeling. A classic remix!"
A PERFECT MATCH FOR A PERFECT MIX!

"Whoever gave this song to Hex Hector to remix has to be congradulated on a musical insight. Hex Hector, known to cook up a dark and beat heavy groove(Deborah Cox: Things Just Ain't The Same, EBTG: Tempermental, and Whitney Houston: I Learned From The Best just to name some) does just that for this ultimate 1984 dance classic. Though Hector "updates" this song's musical sound, he deviates NOT ONE BIT from the original dark and ominous feel of the song. I believe that if Shannon were making this song for the first time in history, she would have made it just like this. This version has every bit the energy as the 1984 version. It is as though Hex Hector could have got into a time machine and went back to that wonderful year and produced it from the ground up with Shannon. Let us not loose sight of Shannon in these days of remix madness. Shannon has a great voice that belongs to the dance world. I hope that is where she decides to stay now that she has wandered into the corporate world of "quickie hits" and "quickie careers" that have no longevity."
