"If I am to choose three best recordings of the entire six of Bach Partitas on piano, they would be those by Rosalyn Tureck, Craig Sheppard, and Sharon Mann. (As for the harpsichord version, Masaaki Suzuki, Blandine Verlet(Astree), and Edward Parmentier.)
This recording of Sharon Mann's is a reissue of her 1987 album. I've never heard of any recording that limns Bach's polyphony more clearly and beautifully than this. Tempi are slightly fast in general. And her keen sense of rhythm renders real lively and exubernat music. This is high-energy Bach. The overall intensity and sense of concentration is up to Craig Sheppard's live recording. Slow movements are also good, with beautiful and exquisite phrasing. Her ornamentation may sometimes sounds a little bit quirky, but never boring. The recording itself is pretty good, too.
This pianist should record more Bach."

"I have always loved Bach but but stuck with the usual fare. I was amazed by the beauty of partita #1 on casual listening. Now I can't get enough on utube. I purchased Mann's version because of it's clarity and musicality without pomposity. Along with Haimovitz's bach cello suite, they are my most satisfying purchase of the year so far."
