Synopsis
Album Description Foxes & Hounds is the eagerly awaited follow-up to The Sharp Things' 2003 debut CD, Here Comes The Sharp Things. Featuring performances by more than a dozen musicians, this ambitious effort takes The Sharp Things' penchant for mood variation to new heights. Take the upbeat tune "The Suicide Bombers"; sporting a lyric about self-destructive Hollywood screenwriters, the song will have you doing the Electric Slide on the first pass. "Homeless" harnesses the band's classic grandiose melancholia, while "She Left With The Sun" conjures up a Motown collision with Traffic and the Left Banke. "50 Heads Over High Street" reminds us that the band can still rock out when they want to--but not without a blissful string arrangement. Similarly Requested CDs

CD Reviews2nd time's the charm J. Fanning | New Your City | 05/22/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I learned of The Sharp Things by seeing them open for The Tindersticks. They won me over as well as the rest of the crowd, I went out and bought Here Comes The Sharp Things the next day and that record was one of my favorites that year. I was anxiously waiting to see what they could do second time around. Foxes and Hounds has surpassed my high expectations. The songs are even stronger and the lush arrangements of strings and brass add to the beauty. She Left With The Sun is absolutely gorgeous and 50 Heads Over High Street shows a rockier side. As the opening track promises, There Will Be Violins... indeed." Beautiful and Thoughtful Lyrics Gary Sgroi | Seaford, NY USA | 04/21/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I had the great pleasure of seeing this amazing band last year and I have to say they are new, fresh and very original. Music that has depth and meaning and is played by craftsmen (and women). Perry Serpa's lyrics are insightful and filled with a sense of yearning and romance. "Suicide Bombers" is incredible as is "Homeless". But the lyrics and the vocal on "Love With The Proper Stranger" bring the house down. This duet is just beautiful. I suggest if you want to have a romantic night with a special person get a nice bottle of wine, light the fire place and get this CD!"
