"Ending a long and legendary career as the leader of the band Blankey Jet City, Ken'ichi Asai, one of the most talented guitarists and musicians in Japan, if not the world, formed another band -- The Sherbets. And this is their first album, released in 1999.Showcasing a slightly more modern style than can be found in the more old-school rock of BJC, the songs on Siberia range from loud in your face rock n roll to slow, moody numbers. But ever-present is Asai's amazing guitar work, instantly recognizable to any fan. This is one of those albums that it's best to sit down by your stereo (w/ or w/out headphones) and listen through, enjoying every last bit of sound.This Japanese foursome has released two albums since this deubt, Aurora in December of 2000, and Vietnam 1964 in December 2001. Siberia serves as a great introduction to a great band, and as an introduction to the world of Japanese rock music, just as good and sometimes even better than the world of English language rock. It may be in Japanese, but music is the universal language, right?"
