CD Reviews

Gilli Smyth - 'Short Tales And Tall' (Voiceprint) 3 1/2 star
Mike Reed | USA | 03/11/2009
(3 out of 5 stars)

"May not be your typical Gilli Smyth or Mother Gong CD, but 'Short Tales And Tall' is okay - as it's pretty much all spoken word, with some good cosmic music thrown in here and there. Tunes I enjoyed the most were "The Children's Tale Of Zero" (where Daevid speaks with a child), the tripping eleven-minute "Poppy Kettle", "Descent To The Underworld" and "The House That Jack Built". It's apparent that Smyth, Daevid Allen and their son, Orlando had worked together to create this unique piece of music."
