Emotion and Insight - a powerful combination...

"This CD should be on the CD racks of anyone interested in Shostakovich and his music. For several reasons:

1) because it is so interesting and insightful to hear Shostakovich playing his own music at the piano - remembering that before he turned to composing he was on the verge of a major concert pianist career...

2) because the playing and singing is extremely heartfelt and beautiful - a real PERFORMANCE of the music.

3) because the CD presents music which is not particularly well known and deserves wider performance (and acclaim).

A really wonderful CD.
