Fun Fact: Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were classmates in middle school (NY, NY) and actually tried out for the same part in a play. They continued singing together for years.
This CD is the best of this 2-man team. I remember listening to this on my LP 33 1/3 record album; I would have to physically move the arm with the needle to another track if I didn't want to hear a particular song, or move it backwards if I wanted to hear the song over and over.
Ahhhh, the good old days were not so good with vinyl. I'm so glad this is available on CD. If you remember these songs from the original times (that is, you're OLD), you'll be glad to hear the young, familiar voices sing clear and high. If you haven't heard this yet, you are in for a treat! These songs have held up well over the years, especially Bridge over Troubled Waters, and the beautiful live performances (Homeward Bound, and Feeling Groovy --- even though the word Groovy hasn't aged as well) were flawless.
This is one of the CDs that has made me happiest about belonging to SwapaCD!

Simon and Garfunkel are great singers with a likeable 1970s-1980s playing style.
Great music for us babyboomers.

CD Reviews
10 stars for music, 1 star for sound - Please remaster!!!

(5 out of 5 stars)
"As most other reviewers have stated, the recordings here truly are some of Simon & Garfunkel's greatest. What makes this an essential album -- IN ADDITION TO the duo's regular albums -- is the inclusion of four live cuts and an alternative take of "America" that don't appear on those earlier albums. These aren't just rarities that are nice to have; they do much more, providing a fuller picture of duo, flowing together with the previously released cuts in a seamless whole that stands by itself as a great album.
Unfortunately, Columbia/Sony has neglected to remaster this outstanding collection. While there are other, bigger S&G collections that do have better sound quality, none has the concise yet masterfully selected group of songs that this album has.
