"single cell orchestra (really miguel angelo fierro) created an soundtrack to an imaginary science-fiction film involving the disappearance of several vessels near a physical phenemenon. the story itself - script written by michiel katz and fierro - is almost like "event horizon" (in terms of film) and 2010 (in terms of book).



personally i'm a sucker for imaginary soundtracks, music that sounds like a film and focusing more on textures and mood. the overall sound depends on minimalist percussions, stagnation of sound and a lot of reverb/echo/delays to evoke the emptiness of space. and in spite of it being made in 1995, it doesn't sound terribly dated either. i'd say if you want aphex twin's selected ambient works vol. 2 to actually have beats, this will be your cup of tea. fans of autechre (tri repetae especially) and future sound of london would enjoy this as well.



and contrary to what you may think, this release is not hard to find. it's still in print and you can buy it through reflective records for $15 using paypal. (i even saw through gemm someone wanting to sell it for $50!)."
