The Sisters Show No Mercy

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had this on a tape and decided to update to the CD. I knew this album pretty much by heart but can't play tape in the newer truck stereo. I'm really not big on metal bands except for a special few, but there is something about the SOM that makes me feel like a rebellious kid again when I listen to them. I bought a second copy for my heavy metal loving son and he likes it too. This album takes me to the peak of "crank it up and rock it out on 11". Tracks- "Vision Thing" & "When You Don't See Me" must be played just below your ears starting to bleed;-) The Sisters are a special band for special tastes, but I love'em and this CD is their best for me."
The Sisters never dissappoint

"This is the Sisters of Mercy's weakest album, but it is still an amazing one that has withstood the test of time and definately earns its 4 stars quite happily. It has a heavy sound which keeps you on edge and excited, and just sounds... well, cool. The fact that the band never broke up, and that I'm going to see them in April, but that they haven't released an album since 1991 might be a good thing. Other bands have rushed releases that have ruined their reputation, but the Sister's reputation can live on eternally through their last studio recording, while the new live songs speak for their new work instead. These songs are reworked in the live set, and they sound radically different now - even heavier. This is surely a testament to their flexibility and how they can be updated as with the music scene itself.
