CD Reviews

Digging Their Hooks In
Brent Evans | Rockhampton, Australia | 06/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is an live document of the "GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INSANE" tour in 1978.Skyhooks were in blistering form with their new guitarist Bob Spencer leading them into a heavy golden future. Unfortunately, their vocalist Graeme "Shirley" Strachan left after this tour, thus ending the golden era for Skyhooks. However,LIVE!BE IN IT(a parody of an Australian Health catchphrase,LIFE!BE IN IT)shows what a hard, tight band Skyhooks was. Not only did they play past hits(ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GETTING MARRD,WOMEN IN UNIFORM,SMARTARSE SONGWRITERS,MERCEDES LADIES),but previewed new tracks(SITTING AT A BAR IN ADELAIDE,BONDAGE ON THE BOULEVARD)and performed first rate covers(WILD IN THE STREETS,BROWN SUGAR).LIVE!BE IN IT also proved that the Skyhooks were able to spoof themselves (SEX IS NOT A DIRTY WORD,THE BRUCE SUITE,and THE KABOODLESCHNITZER KOMMERCIALS).The 1978 hard rocking version of Skyhooks was a major live act. LIVE!BE IN IT explains why."
A clasic from Australia

"I grew up with Skyhooks, they were one of the Australian greats of the 70's. I loved them then and still do now. Their music is fun and entertaining. I would recomend them to anyone"
