Very accomplished, nowhere near #1

"About #1 billion in sales rank probably. These young guys are German, but you wouldn't know it by the music, everything is sung in English, and has a feel to it kind of half way between shoegazer indie and England tinged pop. They've been around as a group since 1995, and have been very prolific, but I've never heard of them until now. Apparently they've never been to the UK or the US.
How good the older work is I don't know, but it prepared them well for this CD, which is a really solid piece of work. You'll feel definite touches of emo, a very Coldplay ding-dong feel to songs like "Failed" (nice), and the guitar work borrows from various sources, even Big Country. I hear some Morrisey in there, maybe some Stars influence, and toss in a little Suede on "Heart".
Nevermind, I'm just trying to give you a feel for the overall sound. What counts is that this is 56 minutes of some pretty nice stuff. Not eveything is great, "Everything" rather meanders into White Album production territory and loses it, "Odds" doesn't do much for me. But most of the melodies work well, and there are several memorable passages, the muse rather favors them with hooks.
So, if enough people hear this and pop for it (maybe not as an import), possibly they can at least rank somewhere above a million on the charts . . . if not #1. Check it out.
