A Great Performance

"It's unfortunate Vaclav Talich does not have a larger discography, but we should be grateful that at least we have quite a bit of his work in the Czech repertory (albeit in mono sound of varying quality). His performance of Ma Vlast with the Czech Philharmonic has great intensity, commitment and a remarkable range of orchestral color. This is a mono recording from the early 1950's but the sound has bloom, a fine sense of space and weight. Orchestral detail is good primarily due to Talich's remarkable sense of instrumental balance. This is a life affirming work and Mr. Talich makes one feel glad to be alive.

A historical milestone!

"At the very moment to remind those exceptional musical achievements that have become acoustic legends, this recording from 1955 must be among this selected list.
The Czech Philharmonic occupies since always a distinguished place among the top orchestras around the world. On the other hand the muscularity, opulence, vigor and persuasive eloquence of Vaclav Talich at the podium conducting the most epic legacy composed by the Father of the musical Czech nationalism allowed this legendary achievement and since its release became a reference pattern respect which all the previous and late recordings must be matched.
So, after all these years (53, to be exact), the answer has not changed. The radiance, fervent ardor, poetic commitment and steeled expression, literally conferred and invested this peerless historical milestone as one these unsurpassed musical peaks.
So, the question is simple. If your are really proud about your invaluable collection, this one will be unfinished in case you miss this mythic landmark.
