CD ReviewsOne and done Matthew McCaffrey | Scranton, PA United States | 06/19/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "Very simply put, this album is a diamond in the rough. The only album this trio put out, "turning of the centuries" is the "hook" song. The name of the game for the Snapdragons is tempo changes. Almost every individual song sounds like two different songs at some point as it plays which provides for a very intersting listening experience. The best example of this is probably "shindig song" which starts out as a typical modern rock song and switches midstream to something you might hear at a square dance.
I was thoroughly impressed w/ most if not all tracks on this album and have been hoping for more since 1991 when, as a college DJ at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre PA, I took this CD off the "new music" rack and skipped to track #3 (turning of the centruries). The only negative I've heard about it is that some listeners felt that the lead vocalist sounds like he is whining a bit. He may sound a little whiny, but he's no Jerry Seinfield. My recommendation is to take a chance, buy a used copy and let 'er rip." |
