Synopsis

Album Details
Soft Machine were the Most Important Band to Be Born Out of the Legendary Canterbury Scene. They Emerged in 1967 as the Quartet of Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge, Kevin Ayers and Daevid Allen and Would Assist in the Formulation of the Canterbury Sound. Numerous Careers Began with Soft Machine: Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers and Daevid Allen. During their Career, Incredible Instrumentalists Like Hugh Hopper, Mike Ratledge, Elton Dean, Roy Babbington and Karl Jenkins Appeared at Various Times. The First CD in this Collection, a Concert Recorded in March of 1971, is a Jamboree of Freeplaying with Seemingly a Cast of Thousands, and Marked a One-off Excursion for the Band. In July of the Same Year the Soft Machine were Back, Reining the Music Back in Once More on Disc 2, under Tighter Structures, Giving Notice of Yet Another New Approach and Proving Once Again their Captivating Unpredictability.
