Album DescriptionThis epic work was commissioned by the Thai Government as a gift to all those affected by the 9/11 tragedy and was first performed at a concert for world peace on January 11, 2002. This live recording was made at a later performance sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, which was the subject of a CNN Feature with Tom Mintier that aired on the first anniversary of the tragedy. Though not made in ideal acoustical conditions, it's a historic recording of a profoundly emotional performance. Somtow Sucharitkul, the Thai-American composer who also writes novels under the pen name "S. P. Somtow", used the words of celebrated American poets like Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman to weave a tapestry of healing and redemption. The Bangkok Opera, Symphony, and a choir gathered from over a dozen countries participated in this concert.
