CD Reviews

The "funk superhero" saves the day!!!!

"Sondoobie has been around the best part of 10years now and his style still doesnt sound old. If anything its sharpened up over the years. I was very suprised and happy with this album because, in my personal opinion, i thought the 3rd FUNKDOOBIEST album "trouble-shooters" was very average in comparison to the 1st two albums. This time around he sounds more amped and hungrier for success. And as with most battleaxe records releases the beats are hard as nails to suit his style. The album as a whole is excellent from start to finish, nice funky breaks with hard beats and quick fire skilled rhymes. There's a total of 13 songs (even though there's only 12 listed, the bonus is "countdown") and 85% of them are tight. The chorus' in nearly every song are really catchy+addictive. The stand out joints are "wile out", "put 'em up", "u wit that?", "reinstated", "superhoes 2", "heavyweight", "full moon" and the truely excellent "countdown". It really is a tight album with more highs than lows. Any FUNKDOOBIEST fan needs this in their collection!!!"
Maybe the best on battle axe yet

"Though this cd isn't as intellectual as most of the battle axe warriors try to come off as, it is still insanely good. Son Doobie raps hard and his spanish accent makes it a joy to listen to. Guests such as Moka Only and Prevail 1 only make it better. The beats are great and the chorus' are very catchy. I'd definately suggest getting this cd as soon as possible."

"I think you either love or hate Son Dobbie's style. If (like me) you are a fan you are probably going to get this album regardless of what anyone says. If you are new to the sounds of Funk Doobiest,I recommend giving their first album: 'Which Doobie U B?' and third album: 'The Trouble Shooters' a listen to first as they are mostly stronger albums. That aside, if you are a fan, this album is a little more gangsta than previous offerings, but still a cool album nonetheless and won't disapoint. The diss of Nelly and Master P on track 6 is a highlight!."
