"There is really only one problem with Sondra Radvanovsky's voice - once you start listening to this album, you never want it to end. Listen to any selection and after approximately five seconds of her voice, you'll be hooked. Her "La vergine degli Angeli" is especially fine, but all selections display a stunning commitment to musical intelligence and interpretive skill. As with all the great singers, there is something about her voice that is both unique and captivating - words are simply not adequate to explain why a particular singer's voice reaches to the soul - but while we may not be able to explain why within the limits of human language, there is absolutely no doubt that she has the ability to plumb the depths of Verdi and bring rapture to the spirit.

"I just got this CD from the mail yesterday and have listened carefully to the whole disc and I have to say that Sondra Radvanovsky is a genuine article, definitely not a false Alarm of Angela Brown. Radvanovsky can sing Verdi with ease all through the range, I mean the Verdi tessitura. The best sung item is 'Pace, pace mio Dio'-gorgeous piano before the end and caps with a final full-piped ending unheard of since Leontyne Price. All ten arias are beautifully sung. As I said at the beginning, she projects her vocal cord with freedom throughout the disc. The way she sings (she is 41) she will be able to sing beautifully for ten, fifteen more years. Does this mean Leontyne Price's place as a Verdi soprano has been taken, hardly. Price is still sitting firmly at her number one chair of my favorite soprano (or Verdi soprano); because, her beautiful warm tone is unmatched, the way she can color different music is also unmatched.



Anyway, let's give Sondra big welcoming hands, our brightest new Verdi soprano!"

"Sondra Radvanovsky is considered to be the preeminent Verdi soprano of her generation. An excellent CD of 'Verdi Arias', just released this spring, including two arias as Leonora from Il Trovatore, her signature role. She will sing this opera in the Met HD broadcast on April 30, 2011."
