CD Reviews

A great, great album

"On a trip out west at a Cowboy show I heard over a recording the
" Sons " for the first time. Being an urban cowboy the harmonies
were striking. Since that time I have bought a number of" Sons "
albums. Not being a C&W fan this album is about as moving as
any album I have ever listened to for its " Soul ". The Sons
seem to capture and separate all that I would imagine it would
be to be a cowboy. There are at least four songs on this album
that I would consider to be absolute classics. It is hard to
imagine that music like this could be any better. In fact next
year it is a family goal to go west and see one of the " Sons "
concerts. This album cuts to the essence of what it means to sing
great harmonies. Truly a remarkable achievement."
Outstanding harmony and real American music!

"Anyone who remembers the Sons of the Pioneer music will love the Sons of the San Joaquin, no questions. Their smooth harmony and perfect blend of voices make listening to them a pleasure. Much of the music on the album was written, or arranged by them, mostly by Jack. The best I could say would not compare to what Roy Rogers said when the Sons gave him a personal "concert" in his home several years ago . . . tears came to his eyes and he joined in. Roy told them he was proud of how they were treating this style of music, and he personally loved it.I have a brief article of how they formed and were "discovered" by Michael Martin Murphy. It's from the Fresno Bee, and is very interesting. I will email it to anyone interested.Buy any of their albums, and you will buy more! Also: If this style of music appeals to you, buy "A tribute to Roy Rogers". I beleive this was his last album. If you're an old Roy fan, this album will bring tears to your eyes."
The Sons are the best!

"We have all their music and this CD is my favorite because the songs are originals, mostly written by Jack; however, I love all their CDs. We met these guys in person when they did a concert here in Alaska and they are as genuinely nice as they are talented. They love what they do and it shows in their performances, both in person and on their CDs. If you love harmonies, you'll love the Sons!"
