CD ReviewsWhat Joy to Hear the SONs Again! J. Price | San Diego, Ca USA | 02/23/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "These wonderful folk and the original tunes have done it again. Not being able to hear them out on the West Coast (having an introducion, Live, at First Night in Evanston many years ago), I am ever delighted to hear new material by this trio of magic, and wonder in gorgeous mucic. The new album is truly a good great find. Get it soon. It's great that ... carries their CD's as they cannot always be found through other distributors. Thanks again to a well met album!!" I was hoping for more C. D. Smith | Richmond, Virginia USA | 10/30/2002 (1 out of 5 stars) "Though past SOTNW ... albums have been about frivolity and fun, 4 Ever On is a recording of folly. Misplaced self-introspection and poor writing drone louder than the off-handed harmonies of Deborah "Minor-Key" Lader and the eternal grunting of Sue Dremmel. Dremmel, who is phenomenally talented in concert, leaves the listener void of her perky personality and charming energy while songs such as "Variations" and "Looks Like Illinois" show a step back for the lyrical genius of Bruce Roper. By the time the listener gets to "Forever On" the biggest fear is that the CD player will return to track 1 and do it again. Sadly, the anticipated release by these innovators of Americana music is a train wreck at rush hour for the fans of the quippy folk-clash style of former Sons of the Never Wrong albums. Where is the writing? Where is the flavor of the melodies? If you want to hear the consequence of speech, buy it. It is wonderful. If you buy this album, it will be at your own consequence and it will provide no challenge to your conscience. If anything, it will leave you silently shaking your head and for the first time fearing there might be a 15th track. I came looking for Jonah and Walking Shoes; I left fearing the prophet is still under a tree going nowhere with no direction."
