"I have been a Juggalo for a looong time now..but I have to say, I was disappointed with this album. First of all, every track sounds the same. J, Lavel, and Esham rap and Shaggy takes the hook. Granted, Shaggy is excellent on this album with scratching and mixing, but the beats are terrible and it sounds too all-over-the-place. The verses don't go well with the beats and it seems that when they needed a hook they asked Shaggs to scream something. No one has ever, in my opinion, messed up at Psychopathic until now.



And people that think being a true Juggalo means you have to like everything Psychopathic puts out, it's not true. If the only reason you like this album is because it was done by Psychopathic Artists, then you probably don't really like it. You're just afraid to say that you don't because of how many "Juggalos" will call you a hater. I'm not afraid to say I don't like this album, in fact, it sucks. Yes, I said it, this album is not worth listening to.



Think back, you know there was a song, album, or even a beat that you just didn't like. It's probably the one that never ends up in your CD player. Furious is that one for me.



Now, I know that ICP, Esham, Lavel, and whoever else worked on "Furious" put a lot of work into it, or maybe not, but they did work. These people are dedicated to keeping the Juggalos interested and keeping us satisfied. But there's a point where you gotta stop trying to come up with new stuff and just keep kickin what we like.



Now obviously, if you loved this album and you're a Juggalo, you're probably hating on me right now. You might not have even gotten this far because you're so angry. As I said earlier, I love everything the now Psychopathic artists have ever done...Inner City Posse to Insane Clown Posse, from HoK to Twiztid, from COC to The Calm, from Mostasteless to Mutant. You get it. But this...this just doesn't do it. This is where they finally messed up.

"Considering that I love ICP & Esham (and the small amount of material that I've heard from Lavel seems pretty good too), this CD is ultimately disappointing. Psychopathic Records has a habit of marketing every release as if it were the best album to ever be released... and many times the final products are worthy of the hype. Unfortunately, the Soopa Villainz debut is not anywhere near as enjoyable as I was hoping it would be. All the juggalos know that SV have been hyped for the past several years with hints and "teaser" tracks being dropped every once in a while (e.g. the short but sweet "Soopa Villainz" on Shangri-La, as well as other tight ICP/Esham collaborations like "Silence of the Hams" and "Conquer" w/ ABK). Mostly all of the "hype" tracks were great, which is probably why my expectations were so high for this album.



I don't want to be completely negative, because there are some aspects of this CD that I like. The sound is definately something new and different, so once again you have to give Psychopathic credit for keeping things fresh. I LOVE Shaggy's scratching on the album and some of the production is great too. As always, the rapping itself is good too. However, one of the main problems that I have with this album is that Shaggy's voice on just about every chorus gets annoying and obnoxious. I agree with the ninja who said that it is difficult to do a "track-by-track breakdown", simply because most of the songs follow the same formula... there is a loud & strong beat, fast rapping, and Shaggs doing his hardcore choruses... no slow songs, not much vocal variation. This works sometimes, but not all of the time. "Furious" is an album that I will put into my CD player, skip around to bump a few tracks, and then eject it to play something else. The repetativeness makes it difficult to listen to the whole album from start to finish, without obtaining a headache at some point.



Still, there are some awesome songs. My personal favorites are "Furious," "Mr. Club," "The Van," "So What," and "I Shot the DJ." I'd say that those are the album's five best tracks. The three other "solo" tracks are slightly above average, but nothing to get too excited about either ("Black Plague," "Pxssy," and "Hook Up The Cut"). Then there are the tracks that suck, whether it's because they are just flops ("To The Rescue" and "It's Over") or simply because they are ruined by Shaggy's mind-numbing choruses ("Guided Missles" and "Hostile"). The tracks that I didn't mention all fall somewhere in the average category.



Overall, this album isn't a complete loss, but it is nowhere near as good as some other recent Psychopathic releases. I'm hoping that the Soopa Heroez will come out with some stronger material than this. And i'm hoping it will be Twiztid, Tech N9ne & Big Krizz Kaliko, instead of Twiztid, Blaze & ABK... but I don't think we'll be that lucky."

"First off let me say that I've been down since Ringmaster. No, I'm not a juggalo who thinks every Psychopathic release has to be amazing, but I do also kind of feel insulted when juggalos claim that everything coming out of Psy. is trash. Yeah, I'll admit that this last year hasn't been that great, but it still had its fair share of good music (Mans Myth & Mutant, for instance). Anyway, I'm just gonna leave it at that & say that I agree with most of the points FROSTBITE made. Now, back to the review:



I picked this album up off the strength of just knowing I would enjoy it. I hadn't heard s**t from or about the Soopa Villainz since The Wraith: Shangri-La & on that record I really wasn't feelin them. Anyway, when they announced this record droppin I had to go pick it up. I expected wicked ass raps from ICP, Esham & Lavel, who's been really impressing me lately as a new member on Psy.



So yeah, I'm not doing a track-by-track review like I usually do for 2 reasons. 1.) Frostbite already did a pretty good one and 2.) it's really hard to do that with this record. The album kind of all stays on the same level. A good level, but most of the songs are about the same in ranking (about a 4-4.5/5). Most of the tracks have the same elements beatwise (bumpin hip hop beat injected with rock & some scratching/cutting from Mr. Club), which can make it hard to like some of the tracks, but they're all good in the end.



Anyway, there are 4 Soopa Villainz. Each with their own super powers & such. Also, on the album, there is 1 track to highlight each SV.



Mr. Club - The DJ assasin who uses his DJ-ing skills to draw you in, then uses his razor sharp "disks of death" to kill you. This was a really cool idea for a SV, and I was really expecting Shaggs to rip this LP. Unfortunately he sticks to 2 things: scratching/cutting & screaming the hooks. This isn't bad, as he is the best of the 4 to do these 2 things, but I really wanted him to rap a couple times & he didn't. His highlight track is...what else? "Mr. Club".



Mr. Spade - The black plague, the militant, call him whatever. He is a leader who only led us to our own destruction. He hates all races & breathes hate for every living being around him. Esham really shines as Mr. Spade, and he has the evil personality to match this SV perfect. His highlight track is "Black Plague".



Mr. Diamond - The Soopa Doopa Billionaire Mr. Diamond. He shines brighter than the sun, but has no pity for the pathetic souls that walk the Earth. (WOW these descriptions rawk don't they? "
