Product DescriptionWe're The Soul Girls brings together the complete recordings of the company's two first ranking girl groups of the mid 60s. Both Jeanne and the Darlings and the Charmells were gainfully employed at Stax studios as backing vocalists, but both sets of ladies also recorded in their own right for the company's Volt subsidiary, mostly under the supervision of Isaac Hayes and David Porter. They didn't release many singles between them but they are treasured by Southern soul and girl group collectors alike. Both sides of each group's Volt 45s are featured here - in stereo, where stereo mixes exist - along with some originally unissued cuts and seven sides that are making their world premiere here, more than 40 years after they were recorded. 29 track compilation.
