"Steven Halpern and Jami Lin's "Sound Chi: Feng Shui Music to Heal the Home and Spirit" aims to "create a comforting background ambience for your home" and to enhance "focus and motivation in the office." The music, which is clear and minimalist with a new-age feel, utilizes the precepts of feng shui to this end. Elements and the seasons, which are reflected in the titles and inspire the compositions, are instrumental in feng shui planning. Bird sounds in a couple of the tracks, such as an owl complemented by a harp in "Creation: Wood/Spring", play off the idea that attracting birds will encourage the flow of good chi. The result is a calming yet uplifting series of sounds and tunes that lend to a pleasant environment. Playing this soothing CD on a rainy morning may encourage you to climb back into bed! But be warned: an irritating intro to feng shui by author Jami Lin opens the first track. Skip over it. The text is well-suited for liner notes to the disc insert, but her chipper delivery is less than professional, and is discordant with the mood of the work."
