CD ReviewsSmooth & sultry John H | Renfrewshire United Kingdom | 04/23/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I remain astonished at the intensity of this album and I must have played it hundreds of times. From the opening bars of 'It's so True' thro to the final chorus of 'Spiritual' (no one ever prayed like THIS before), the musicianship and underplayed lyrics convey a raw tortured beauty which I last experienced listening to Jeff Buckley's live shows. It rubs shoulders with Miles' 'Kind of Blue', Jeff's 'Grace', Nick Drake's 'Pink Moon' and Will Oldham's 'I see a Darkness'. Music to sit down and actually LISTEN to. Wonderful stuff !" Still crazy about it after 5 years Joachim Lyssens | Leuven, Belgium | 02/29/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "The Blue Moods of Spain is one of the best albums I own, certainly when you narrow my collection down to the 90s. The title says it all really, and it differs from She haunts my dreams because this album is slower and even more melancholic than the second one. Spain is one of those bands who can't be expected to be successful with singles. You have to listen to the whole cd or not at all. Josh Haden is terrific on bass and vocals and all melodies are unforgettably beautiful. My personal favorites are I lied, Untitled #1, Ray of light, Spiritual and Ten nights. This album is not of this world." Heart Breaker of a music for a late 20th century. Joachim Lyssens | 02/10/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Whatever your taste of music is, this album is a treat. For those who are consciously malancholic or those who indulge themselves in the emotional side of themselves once in a whille. This is terrific stuff!!"
