Bought it for the unreleased stuff...
Analog | Planet Earth | 10/09/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I only bought this album for the unreleased material, which are the last 5 songs on the album. Was it worth it? Since Spain is one of my all time favorite bands, yes. Why they would release a greatest hits album puzzles me a little. After all, nobody's going to say about Spain, "I love that song! They used to play that on the radio all the time!" I'm assuming that most of Spain's fans are like myself. We're more of a cult following. I'm also assuming that if you like Spain, you probably own all 3 of their albums already. There is really no "new" material on here, just a couple demo's and a few live tracks, all the rest has been previously released. Unless you're an avid Spain fan, you really don't need the bonus stuff on here, the two demo's of "I lied" and "Her Used To Been" aren't as good as the album versions, but the live songs are pretty worthwile. The other thing that doesn't quite work for me is the flow of the album. All 3 of Spain's albums are so different, and it's hard for me to listen to a few songs from each album intermixed with each other, if that makes any sense. If you want Spain's greatest hits, buy all of their albums, they never made a bad song. To make a greatest hits album of a band no one has heard of doesn't make too much sense, but what the hell. I still listen to this all the time."
