Excellent writing..Hard to enjoy because he talks through it

"On Kirk Franklin's latest album "The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin" he proclaims that his "rebirth" taught him that it has to all be about the music rather than him. This is evident in the fact that he is silent through most of the album. He lets the message and the music take center stage. Well, I would like to see Donald become reborn as well. I have to say..the writing is wonderful, but there are alot of missed opportunities on this album. First, Donald talks through almost every song-distracting from the words, music and other singers. Second, despite have a number of outstanding guest appearances (all with stronger voices than him) he chooses to reduce their contribution to singing second or third verses and choruses (with exception of the Lalah Hathaway and Ramsey Lewis song). I was so excited about this album and while I think the musicianship and message are wonderful, I am distracted from the message by all of his antics on this cd. Furthermore, while Donald is a great performer and writer, I think Donald needs to realize that he doesn't have very strong vocals and every now and then should let others take hold of the microphone or atleast let the stronger singer lead the song. In order to be a good leader, sometimes you have to know when to follow. Sorry if this review is inconsistent with the others, but it had to be said. While listening to this album,I felt like I was at a really great concert, but distracted by those around me holding side conversations."

"''Dont Forget to Remember'' with Lalah Hathaway and Ramsey Lewis has got to be my favorite song from this album...although this is overall a very good effort."

"I Speak Life is my favorite song..#2 on the CD...I listen & believe that God will heal me soon as I am currently having health problems..but as Donnie McClurkin keeps sayin, "I speak healing to your body now!" I accept it & believe it!!! Donnie has delivered a powerful ministry again...one of the best!

Off Da HOOK!!!!!!

"Man when I heard this CD I just couldn't get over how good it was, but then I had to remind myself that this is D. Lawrence, of course this cd is gonna be off da hook.
When I heard "Miracles", I loved it, but when I heard Nessa voice over my speakers, I was toatlly taken aback, you cannot go wrong when you have Venessa Bell-Armstromg on your cd. She is classic, her voice is awesome. Then on down the line you got "Say A Prayer" with Faith Evans sounding better that ever. And speaking of better, one of my favorite songs, "Better" is da bomb, with the Murrils, there isn't enough adjectives to describe this song,"What's To Come Is BETTER Than What's Been," I think I found my anthem. Last but definitely NOT least is "Coming Strong", oh this song is just beautiful, it just says to me that I am not too far gone that Grace cannot, will not cover me, that HE is omnipresent and that HE forever has your back.
D. Lawrence, man you have did it again, GOD Bless.
Matter a fact I'm about to listen to it right now. Don't forget HE is coming on your behalf. GOD Bless"
