CD Reviews

Spiders and Snakes-A different point of view
Scott Weisenfeld | Glendale, California United States | 10/03/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I am awaiting the arrival of London Daze, but the previous review caused me to instantly react. I used to hang out with these guys in their studio and found them to be not only great musicians but craftsmen when it came to understanding pop music. Not only is Lizzie a great songwriter, but he and the band are really meticulous about their music. Their selection of cover tunes seems to reflect some of those moments in time where the music just made you feel good. The one problem about Spiders and Snakes is they have not gotten the attention they deserve. They are entertaining to watch and listen too as well as showing the love they have for music. If you listen to The Glitter Years or 2000 Retro you will find some songs that will stay with and are just full of hooks. If you listen to most of the songs there is a thoughtful, playful nature that makes remember music that just made you feel alright. If you get a chance to see them or hear their earlier work it is worth the effort. I haven't gotten the cd but I am certain I will not be disappointed."

"With the brand new Spiders & Snakes CD "Hollywood Ghosts" due for release this month and phenomenal pre-order sales already in place, I've been snooping around the net of late to get a pulse on the fans (and detractors, too) who haven't made their way to our website at http://www.spidersandsnakes.com yet. I must say that the two following reviews of "London Daze" sound like two individuals who were listening to two totally different albums! As the artist, I strive singularly to be true to my art every time I step into a recording studio. That "art" is rock and roll, and love or hate my interpretation of it, "London Daze" is simply true. If you miss the day when hard rock and roll was about big guitars, hummable melody and poignant lyrics that left you feeling good about the otherwise trite and mundane in life, then welcome to my world. Welcome to Spiders & Snakes. Rock on, and don't let the grim noise of hate eclipse the good times that are still there to be had in rock and roll...and in the world."
