CD ReviewsTHIS CD WAS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT TO ME. 02/28/1999 (1 out of 5 stars) "WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CD I HAD GREAT EXPECTATIONS OF WHAT IT MIGHT BRING. AFTER REVIEWING IT I WAS DEFLATED. I THOUGHT HOW COULD A BIG BAND CD HAVE SUCH BAD ARRANGING. I GUESS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. THIS HAS TO BE THERE WORST CD. OUT OF ALL THE TRACKS LISTED I LIKED 2 SONGS." WHAT WERE THOSE NEGATIVE REVIEWERS LISTENING TO?! James B. Noel | CT | 03/28/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "One reviewer said this was "there" worst CD. Sic, music fans, consider the source! This CD is superb. I have been a big fan of The Spitfire Band for a good long while and this is my favorite of their (ahem) CD's. In fact, it's one of my favorite discs, period. It's a bit jazzier than some of their other work, such as The Make Believe Ballroom, but that demonstrates the band's versatility. Track 7, South Rampart Street Parade, is a delightful quick trip to Preservation Hall. I dare you to listen to Air Mail Special without tapping at least one of your feet. Yet there are classics such as the lead-off track, Opus #1, that uphold the band's reputation of making you want to go fly a B-17 and vote for FDR.Don't believe a word written by the naysayers - buy this!"
