Spot was by-far the best band coming out of Dallas in the 1990's. This album is amazing, and brings back so many memories each time I pop it into the CD player.

CD Reviews

Spot is an all-time favorite in my CD collection!

"To Chad Rueffer, Reggie Rueffer, Earl Darling (CD drummer), and Davis Bickston (live drummer):

If you guys happen to read this, I saw Spot perform on the Laser 103 Rock Stage at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI, in 1995 or 1996. I immediately bought your CD after seeing you guys perform. You were AMAZING live and the CD was, and still is, phenomenal!

For a few years, your CD got mixed in with all of my other CDs and kinda got buried. But on my drive from Wisconsin to Arizona two years ago, I decided to take along about 80 CDs. One of the 80 CDs was Spot.

I was completely re-blown away by you guys and listened to your CD multiple times during my roadtrip. When I got home, I thought, "I have to see what else these guys have put out! I want to see them live again!"

Sadly, upon scanning through the CD case and booklet and trying to look up the website listed, or search for other CDs by you guys, or find additional information about the individual members of your band, I turned up pretty much nothing.

Then only information that I found was a little blurb about Chad and Reggie performing with a country band. A country band! What happened to Spot?! Granted, you guys had a completely horrendous name that cannot be easily found with an internet search, but your music was incredible!

The Odds' "Nest", That Dog's "Retreat From The Sun", Failure's "Fantastic Planet", and Hoarse's "Happens Twice" all share this same mantle as you guys of mindblowing albums by fantastic bands that no longer exist, in my opinion.

May 29, 2006 Update: To those fans of Spot who aren't aware of what they are up to now, I found out last year and forgot to update my review. Reggie now leads a rock band called The Hochimen, who have two albums out, plays fiddle in the Charlie Pride country western band, and also plays fiddle in The Insiders (more country music) with his brother Chad who leads The Insiders. The Insiders are also now called The Rueffer Brothers.

April 24, 2007 Update: Spot reunited in early March 2007 at the Wreck Room in Austin, TX, and the show was shot with three camcorders, one of which was mine. A DVD of the live show with soundboard audio and a DVD documentary are in the works for release hopefully by the end of summer. Check out MoonJuneSpoon (dotcom) for more info!

January 27, 2008 Update: It looks like the DVD(s) may be released closer to Summer 2008 now.

Great album

"I won't repeat what the others have said, I'll just simply tell you I agree with their praise. The thing that strikes me about the quality of this album is, if a film producer were to put any of these songs on a soundtrack and, say, that movie turned around and became a sleeper hit, I think this band would blow up and some major would buy the rights to destribute the album...and then, who knows, maybe the band would return.PS I once wrote the band a letter telling them I thought their CD was really good and hoped I'd see them in Boston, and they repsonded with a thank you letter, a holiday card, and a complementary 12-inch record and t-shirt."
