Album Description

In Hamburg between 1968 & 1973, more than 30 cult feature films were made dealing with the red light environment of the Reeperbahn & the forces within it, namely prostitution, drugs & violence. St Pauli productions were famous for the best of these cult films & fused elements from the music of the time, jazz, funk, 60's beat, & lounge to create a tone for the films called 'sleazy listening'. 'St Pauli Affairs' brings together the cream of the composers from this era such as Peter Thomas, Berry Lipman, Peter Schirmann, Wolfgang Hartmayer, Roland Kovac, & Siegfried Franz. 2001.

"I didn't know those Germans could be so funky and sexy. I thought that 2 things came out of Germany - effeciency and order. This batch of tunes throws everything out the topless BMW and defies you NOT to dance.
These rockin numbers are sleazy in the vain of Vampyros Lesbos - Lots of horns and organs doing the wild things. Each track is so incredibly catchy. In true late 60's/early 70's beat style the melodies are ones that will stay in your head and have your toes tapping and your fingers poppin'.
Fans of Lesbos, Schulmadchen Report, Van Rooyen, Pete Thomas will be in heaven as the tracks never fail to disappoint..."
